The strength of women against the wind

17 crews in the field, 2 days of competition, changing conditions in the Gulf of Gdańsk and the fourth consecutive victory for the Yacht Klub Polski Szczecin team. This is what the Dr Irena Eris Polish Women’s Sailing Championships looked like.
The best Polish sailors in the sports and amateur classes competed in the regatta. This allowed experienced and award-winning competitors as well as those who are just beginning their sailing adventure to compete against each other. The first day of the competition was marked by weak and variable winds. The race for the lead was between the competitors from YKP Szczecin and Stan’s Angels LOCCO Yacht Club Gdańsk. Ultimately, the first three places were taken by the crews of YKP Szczecin, YKP Rzeszów and YKP Warsaw. The second day brought much better conditions, with the competitors catching the easterly breeze in their sails.

And although the competition was fierce, the leaders did not let victory slip away. Second place went to The Barking Dogs Yacht Club Gdynia, while the Warsaw crew Sztorm Grupa took the lowest step on the podium. No less important than the sporting competition was what took place on solid ground – conversations and meetings among women in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Dr Irena Eris has been the title partner of the event for four years.
