Not a typical Tim Burton film about awakening and fighting for truth, independence and respect. Based on true events, it tells the story of the painter Margaret Keane, whose works were very popular in the 1960s, but... attributed to her husband.
Tim Burton is rather associated with the characteristic style of “Edward Scissorhands” or “Alice in Wonderland”. “Big eyes” is different. There is no exaggerated world or fantastic characters here. We accompany a quiet, inconspicuous woman who obsessively paints the same motif, at the same time giving in to her husband’s psychological violence. He draws profits from her talent and attributes her already popular works to himself. The leading roles are played by Amy Adams and Christoph Waltz as well as the hypnotizing paintings of children and women with big eyes.
