Sauna Etiquette

Why do we love saunas? It has been proven that during a visit to the sauna, our body releases endorphins, thus significantly improving our mood and well-being.
The heat relaxes muscles, allows us to ease off and reduces stress. A visit to the sauna improves circulation, reduces blood pressure and regulates the heart rate, allowing the body to cleanses itself of toxins. The skin is moisturized and its elasticity is improved. It also accelerates the burning of calories and increases the body’s immunity. When using the sauna for the first time, we recommend reading the sauna safety rules available in the hotel to learn not only how to use it but also get to know the sauna etiquette.

In a swimsuit or not?

Before entering the sauna, you must take off your bathing suit. It is made of artificial fabrics that are airtight and can cause skin burns, as the temperature in the Finnish sauna usually reaches 80-100 degrees. The sauna is conducive to sweating, it is best to cover yourself with a cotton towel.

On a towel

Take two towels to the sauna. Use one towel to sit or lie on it. The second towel is used to wipe off after using the shower. Remember to go into the sauna with the skin wiped dry.
Enjoy deep relaxation in one of the saunas at the hotel Dr Irena Eris SPA Center.

Shower first

When using the sauna, you should shower twice. First, right after to enter the spa center before you get into the sauna, wash yourself with soap. Then, shower again when you leave the sauna. First rinse the sweat thoroughly and then cool the body as recommended to close the pores. Then you can use a swimming pool.

A place of peace and quiet

The sauna is a place where you look for peace and relaxation. Therefore, you should not leave it without need, because there is nothing so annoying, as the ventilation of the sauna and the introduction of confusion. It is also inappropriate to pour water on the stones, without asking others if it will not bother anyone.

Kids in the sauna

There is no contraindication for children to use the sauna, although their visit should not exceed 3 minutes.

Relax and replenish fluids

At the end of a visit to the sauna, after washing and then cooling the body, it is necessary to restore proper circulation, calm the heart and hydrate the body. For this purpose, there are special relaxation zones, in which 20-30 minutes of rest is recommended, during which we can have some mineral water or herbal tea.
